Our choir

For about 190 years the choir of Konzertgesellschaft Bad Kreuznach e. V. has offered enthusiastic singers the opportunity to rehearse demanding choral works and perform them with vocal soloists and orchestras in Bad Kreuznach and the surrounding area.

The repertoire includes famous compositions by the old masters as well as modern works. Rehearsal work with choir director Stefan Wasser is marked by great musicianship and high standards.

Rehearsals and membership

We are about 80 choir members and rehearse except during school holidays on Tuesdays from 7.45–9.30 p.m. in the assembly hall of the primary school, Hofgartenstraße 14, 55545 Bad Kreuznach.

History

Founded in 1830 at the suggestion of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy as a mixed choir in Bad Kreuznach. The first public performance took place on 6 April 1831 with Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words”. Since August 2008 Stefan Wasser has been the choir’s musical director.

The repertoire includes oratorios and sacred works as well as operetta and opera evenings. The Zelter Plaque was awarded in 1957. The 200th anniversary is approaching in 2030 — “190 years” refers to the 2020 jubilee and is kept deliberately understated here.
